About Me
I am an experienced and dedicated Educational Psychologist passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and families.
I am accredited in several evidence-based programs and assessments, including the Triple P Parenting Programme, Incredible Years Teacher Programme and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. I provide neurodiversity assessments, including Autism evaluations, cognitive and learning assessments (including Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia), ADHD screening and assessments for Intellectual Developmental Differences/ Giftedness.
As a passionate advocate for neurodiversity-affirming practice, I believe in celebrating the unique strengths of neurodivergent individuals. I work closely with families to navigate challenges, empowering them with tailored strategies that help children thrive in their learning, social, and emotional environments. I am deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children and families, supporting them to unlock their potential and build brighter futures.
Over the past three decades, I have gained extensive experience as a teacher, early childhood centre teacher and manager, and Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour. Since 2011, I have been working as an independent psychologist, helping families address a wide range of challenges, including learning and behaviour differences, giftedness, emotional issues, trauma, and family harm. I also write specialist reports for the Family Court and offer professional supervision.
I am a proud member of the NZ Psychological Society, the Institute of Educational and Developmental Psychology, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. I receive referrals from parents, schools, medical practitioners, and government agencies, and I ensure my professional practice remains of the highest standard through regular supervision and collaboration with peers.

Child and Family Psychologist

About Me
I am a Child and Family Psychologist with a passion for helping children, adolescents and their families to understand and meet their young people where they are at.
I work from a neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed perspective. I believe that kids do well if they can and that all behaviour makes sense if we take the time to understand it. I enjoy working with young people and their families to see the world through their lens and supporting them to create environments that affirm their unique strengths and differences.
I graduated as a psychologist in 2020 and worked at the Ministry of Education for nearly two years. I developed a passion for being able to understand and advocate for young people who didn’t yet have the skills or ability to manage their behaviour within the school context.
Since late 2022, I have been one of the College Psychologists at St Bede’s College. I support students with a range of concerns, including anxiety, low mood, disordered eating, OCD, trauma, difficulties regulating emotions and behaviour, family and peer difficulties, gender and sexuality, and difficulties related to neurodivergence. I complete a limited number of neurodiversity assessments for students presenting with significant difficulties related to potential ADHD, ASD, and/or cognitive differences. I enjoy working alongside the students through the ups and downs of adolescence and being a safe and nonjudgmental adult who can support them to learn new skills and advocate for themselves.
I grew up in Cheviot and since starting work at Neurohive one day per week in 2024, I feel lucky to be able to give back to the North Canterbury community. I am a proud nerd and have a love of learning. In my ‘spare time’ I particularly enjoy finding and sharing resources and research about trauma, neurodiversity, and supporting young people.

I am Georgia, a registered Child and Family Psychologist with a Master’s in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Family Psychology from the University of Canterbury. At Neurohive, I conduct assessments using an evidence-based approach that embraces neurodiversity.
I’m passionate about creating a warm and supportive environment where children, teens, and their whānau feel heard, comfortable, and free to be themselves. My focus is on helping young people and families understand their child’s brain, celebrate what makes them unique, and identify and reduce barriers that may prevent them from living a meaningful life.
In my spare time, I enjoy pottery, reading, strawberry matcha, camping, walking my dog, and spending time with my partner and friends.

Emma Sheeran
Specialist Learning and Behaviour Assessor
emma@neurohivepsychology.co.nz
About Me
I am Emma, an experienced teacher, specialist assessor and passionate tutor. I have been in the education sector for 20 years in both early childhood and primary school settings. I love the wonder and honesty that children explore their world with and I have a particular fondness for neurodivergent students. I have always been a passionate advocate for tamariki who learn differently, captured by the philosophy “When we know better, we can do better.”
After working in early childhood in both Australia and New Zealand for several years, and then completing a Graduate Diploma in Primary Teaching, I spent time with the RTLB service; mentoring teachers to support students with learning and behaviour differences. I returned to the classroom and a SENCO role within a school, where I led the charge towards strengths-based reporting and creating learning environments that treated Dyslexia as an opportunity to grow practice and engage all learners.
As a Specialist Behaviour and Learning Assessor, I support Neurohive with learning assessments, report writing and follow-up tutoring for students, while I continue studying towards becoming a registered assessor. I love being a part of the Neurohive team and I look forward to meeting with you and supporting home and school partnerships to facilitate the best learning outcome for your child.

About Me
I am a compassionate and experienced child and family psychologist who is committed to working in an affirming and growth-focused way. I care deeply about supporting children, young people, and their families to develop the insight, confidence, and skills necessary to be able to be true to themselves and their values while working through challenging times. I enjoy the creativity, playfulness, and humour that often comes from working with children and young people.
I hold a Master of Arts (with Distinction) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Family Psychology, and have worked in the NGO sector, Ministry of Education and most recently in an independent boy’s secondary school as a psychologist. I am an experienced ACT therapist, who also draws from DNA-V, CBT, positive psychology, and neuroscience-aligned approaches to psychological support. I am an accredited facilitator of the Triple P and Tuning into Teens parenting programmes and have a strong interest in the Collaborative and Proactive Solutions approach developed by Dr Ross Greene.
I have particular expertise in supporting and assessing neurodivergent children and adolescents, especially those with co-occurring mental health and wellbeing difficulties. I work hard to help these young people, and their families, identify and harness their strengths, improve confidence and self-esteem, develop self-advocacy skills, and find effective ways of managing the challenges associated with their neurodivergence. I am excited to be working with the team at Neurohive to provide this support.
When I’m not working, I am most happy when I am in my garden, goofing around with my teenagers and husband, launching into some sort of DIY project, going on new adventures, and spending time with my nearest and dearest.

Rebecca Dowling
Child and Family Psychologist
rebecca@neurohivepsychology.co.nz
About Me
I am a social, fun-loving person who loves city living, with an interest in the arts, culture, and architecture. My favourite places are the cinema and the botanic gardens, and I embrace the opportunity to attend as many Christchurch events as possible.
I have always been drawn to working with people, and prior to registration as a psychologist I trained as a primary school teacher and have also worked in caregiving, tutoring, and community support work for youth and adult mental health.
I am now a registered psychologist with a Master of Arts in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Family Psychology. In my training as a psychologist, I worked with many young people who presented to services with a range of challenges, only to discover an underlying learning difference as a factor. This led me to my interest in the area of specific learning disorders and is where the focus of my work has been for the last ten years, working in a non-government organisation. During my work in this field, I further developed a passion for supporting students with all types of learning differences and have an interest in neurodiversity.
At Neurohive, I conduct assessments with the belief that a good quality assessment report can provide a solid understanding of each individual’s unique way of learning and to give guidance on how to minimise barriers in order to promote success. I love having the opportunity to work directly with children, young people, and their families, and balancing out different viewpoints to reach a shared understanding of how an individual thrives.

Kate Harris
Clinical Psychologist

About Me
I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience in assessing and supporting neurodivergent adults, including through the ACC Sensitive Claims Service and within the justice system. In addition to my private work, I continue to provide psychological services within the Department of Corrections, supporting clients under their care. My background also includes research at the University of Canterbury’s Te Puna Toiora: Mental Health and Nutrition Research Lab, where I conducted assessments with children undergoing treatment for ADHD.
I have a strong interest in neurodiversity and regularly conduct comprehensive assessments and provide therapy for adults with ADHD and autism. I also offer therapy for a broad range of challenges, including anxiety, low mood, trauma-related difficulties, and life stressors such as relationship or work-related issues. I primarily draw upon evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). My goal is to provide supportive, effective therapy tailored to each individual’s unique needs.
In addition to my clinical work, I supervise other psychologists who are delivering therapy and conducting ADHD and autism assessments. Across all aspects of my work, I aim to provide a compassionate, culturally responsive, and non-judgmental space where clients feel understood and supported. I recognise that seeking help can be a vulnerable step, and I strive to make the process as welcoming and accessible as possible.
